Habanero Mexican Cafe

Habanero Mexican Cafe

This is a low-key tex-mex joint should be on everybody's list of "must try" taco joints. I've passed Habanero so many times driving along Oltorff Street but only recently stopped to try it out. Am I glad I did. What was I waiting for?

I've since been there a few times, and I can whole-heartedly recommend the Fish Taco, the Beef Fajita Ranchero Taco and the Al Pastor Taco. They do have full combination meals but I've only had the cheaper, faster taco offerings. The Fish taco is grilled catfish, not fried. Quite tasty and quite generous in portion size. The Beef Fajita Ranchero taco offers moist strips of beef with grilled jalapeno peppers... it really has some bite! The tacos Al Pastor are very good too; not as saucy as some taco joints but very good.

One note of caution: they only accept credit or debit cards for purchases in excess of $10. So if you're only buying lunch for yourself, ya better bring cash.
